In an inspiring tale of unexpected friendship, Themba, a baby elephant, found solace and companionship after the tragic loss of his mother.

Following this heartbreaking event, Themba was taken into the care of the Sanbona Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa.

Despite initial hopes of finding a surrogate mother, the young elephant remained alone during his first week at the sanctuary.

To address Themba’s need for companionship, the sanctuary introduced Albert, a sheep, to him. At first, Albert was fearful and sought shelter in a cave for twelve hours, which is understandable given the unusual pairing.

However, the following day revealed a delightful surprise: Albert emerged from the cave, and Themba refused to leave his side.
