Both Ronaldo and Messi have left Europe, leaving for the Saudi Pro League and MLS respectively. Mbappe and Haaland are being considered as heirs to their vacant thrones.
Haaland surpassed Mbappe when winning the treble with Manchester City in the 2022/2023 season. However, the French superstar is no less proud of the World Cup gold medal and two consecutive finals.
However, Manchester United legend Loius Saha firmly believes that neither Mbappe nor Haaland can surpass the level of Messi and Ronaldo.
“I completely understand why there are so many fans of Lionel Messi and I completely understand why myself and so many others are fans of Cristiano Ronaldo.”
“Those are two different players. One is almost a natural genius in Messi, who has adapted his playing style to become the best. With his size and height, Ronaldo used used his height and strength to score over 900 goals . So you have two different players with different styles and attributes.”
“You will never see that again. You can see Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe fighting for 10 years but that will never happen. To get close to the level, if you want to catch up with Messi and Ronaldo, they have to score 50 goals/season for the rest of their career, that’s impossible.”
