According to Sky News, Mr. Srettha Thavisin – Prime Minister of Thailand – recently made a notable statement related to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour within the framework of the iBusiness Forum 2024 event (Bangkok). Specifically, Mr. Thavisin said that the Singapore government has offered a price of 2 – 3 million USD to the organizer of The Eras Tour to ensure that Singapore is the exclusive country in Southeast Asia to host this music night.
The Thai Prime Minister said he had long raised the issue of Taylor Swift not coming to Thailand to perform, and AEG recently informed Mr. Thavisin specifically. Thus, with a total of 6 sold-out shows at the National Stadium, the Singapore government spent 12 – 18 million USD on Taylor Swift (about 300 billion – 440 billion VND) just to ensure that The Eras Tour will only takes place here and not in any other Southeast Asian country.
The Eras Tour is the most successful tour in music history. The 2023 tour alone has brought Taylor Swift more than $1 billion in revenue.
Taylor Swift’s 6 upcoming concerts have all been sold out, and nearly 400,000 audiences from all over Asia are expected to flock to Singapore. Previously, there were more than 22 million registrations to get a ticket, creating an extremely fierce “competition ratio”. Although there are no exact statistics, Singapore’s tourism and economy will certainly receive a lot from this international event.
Normally, when touring Southeast Asia, international artists will often choose to perform in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia as well as Vietnam. However, with Singapore’s exclusive agreement, other countries, even though they meet Taylor Swift’s requirements in terms of stadiums, ticket sales, technology,… but still cannot bring The Eras Tour home. your country.

Mr. Srettha concluded: “The Singapore government is very astute. If she comes to Thailand, it will be cheaper to organize here and I believe she will be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand. Although we will have to subsidize at least 500 million baht, it is worth it. If I had known this earlier, I would have brought the show to Thailand. Concerts can create added value for the economy.”
