Season’s Farewell: Ben Simmons Bids Adieu Early, Battling Back Injury Struggles

Another sad update regarding injuries and even sadder when the name mentioned is Ben Simmons . The Brooklyn Nets have just announced that the former Australian All-Star defender will miss the rest of the season due to a back injury, specifically a pinched nerve in the lumbar region.

Ben Simmons has not played much this season with a total of 15 appearances since the beginning of the season. Last January, Simmons played in 9 of Brooklyn’s 12 matches, but he had a recurring injury and missed the last 5 matches.

Ben Simmons (No. 10) will have to miss the rest of the 2023-24 season due to a back injury.

A series of injuries has left Ben Simmons’ potential career uncertain. He made the All-Star team 3 consecutive years while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers and appeared once on the All-NBA team, all at the age of 23.

But the injury has caused both physical and mental problems for Simmons, causing him to rarely show his previous peak form. Occasionally the Australian defender shows off his speed and tactical vision, but Ben almost never maintains these performances for long periods of time.

Ben Simmons appeared in 15 games this season, averaging 6.1 points (58.1% FG) with 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.

Now 27 years old, Ben Simmons still has 1 season left on his current contract with the Brooklyn Nets. There he will receive a “huge” salary of up to 40.34 million USD.

Reputable journalist Shams Charania said that Ben Simmons will consult with experts, one of the next steps on the path to finding a solution to completely treat the back injury that has haunted him for many years.
