Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed that Neymar will not recover from his injury in time to attend the 2024 Copa America.

In October 2023, Neymar ruptured his knee ligament during Brazil’s away trip to Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America. The Brazilian medical team initially determined that Neymar would have to stay away from the field for at least 8 months. However, after the player goes on the operating table and undergoes surgery, Neymar’s recovery process will take longer.

For a player with a history of injuries like Neymar, doctors do not want his career to be at risk. Age is also another reason why it is difficult for Neymar to recover after ligament surgery. He will celebrate his 32nd birthday in February next year.
