Before the 1991 NBA Finals, Tim Halland, PR director of the Chicago Bulls team, asked Jordan to give him the Air Jordan shoes that the male player wore during the match if the team won.
After winning, Jordan fulfilled his promise. He signed the shoes before giving them back to Halland. Due to superstition, this “tradition” continued to be maintained by the basketball legend for the remaining 5 championships. Sotheby’s acquired these sneakers from a private American collector.

The gap between the first three consecutive championships and the last three championships was due to Jordan temporarily leaving the basketball field to pursue professional baseball in October 1993.

These shoes are not the first to sell for huge prices.
