Messi scored two goals, including a late equalizer, as Inter Miami won on penalties against Dallas in the Leagues Cup after the match ended 4-4.

This continues to be a remarkable start to the Inter Miami career of Messi, who has scored seven goals in just four appearances. Accordingly, Messi is on par with current teammate Josef Martinez with 7 goals along with Lewis Morgan and Rodolfo Pizarro.

The players who scored more goals than Messi for Inter Miami are former striker Gonzalo Higuain (29), and players currently playing for the club include Leo Campana (16) and Robert Taylor (8).

Inter Miami was just founded in January 2018, but Messi’s achievements are still very impressive and it may not be long before he becomes the club’s best striker of all time. Meanwhile, Higuain played for Inter Miami from 2020 to 2022 and made 70 appearances for the club.

Messi scored a late winner on his debut for Inter Miami against Cruz Azul and then scored twice against Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas. He also scored from the 11m penalty shootout in the match against Dallas.

The 36-year-old has become Barcelona’s all-time top scorer with 672 goals and he is also the record holder for Argentina with 103 goals. Messi also scored 32 goals during his two years at Paris Saint-Germain. Many fans hope Messi will set a new record for Inter Miami, like he often does for the teams he plays for.

Also in the match where Messi scored a double against Dallas, a fan recorded David Beckham’s reaction to the 7-time Golden Ball winner’s beautiful free kick. Co-owner of Inter Miami, Beckham was filled with joy and hugged his wife Victoria. Messi’s great performance made fans in the stands understand the meaning of Beckham bringing the Argentine striker to America at all costs.

After opening the score in the 6th minute, Messi once again showed his talent in the 85th minute, when Dallas was leading 4-3. As he has done so many times in his career, Messi scored the equalizer with a superb free kick.

In a video recorded by a fan, Beckham’s joy was evident as he celebrated passionately with his wife Victoria. There was another joy for Inter Miami and Beckham, when captain Messi was among those who scored from the penalty spot to help the home team win 5-3 on penalties to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup, where they will meet Houston Dynamo or Charlotte.

One Twitter user commented on how pleased Beckham was with Messi’s goal: “Beckham is the happiest man during the whole Messi going to the US Major League thing.” Another added: “Beckham is very lucky to have Messi.”

Another fan humorously joked that Beckham was worried about his free kick brand being forgotten by Messi: “Don’t joke with Messi. Beckham should worry about his legacy.” An equally humorous Twitter user: “Beckham wishes he could play football with Messi”. Another person said: “Beckham loves Messi like his own wife.”
