Melodic Serenade: Pianist Plays The Sweetest Songs to Soothe Her Guinea Pig Off to Sleep

Dindin, a Parisian guinea pig, loves nothing more than listening to piano music.

For Dindin, listening to her mom play the piano is a completely relaxing experience. Her mom sets up a little blanket for her right above the keys, where she curls up and seems completely content to do nothing more than soak in the music.

Many commenters on Dindin’s TikTok have pointed out that the second her mom starts playing the first few notes of a song, Dindin plops her head down on her blanket, getting as cozy as possible.

Dindin’s mom likes playing her lots of different songs. Featured on her TikTok are performances of classical and impressionist songs like Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” as well as more contemporary pieces like “Golden Hour” by JVKE. Dindin seems to enjoy them all equally.

Watching Dindin enjoy her mom’s music has been a meaningful and relaxing experience not only for Dindin but also for Dindin’s many TikTok followers.

“Oh to be a guinea pig laying on a blanket while your human plays the piano for you,” a TikTok commenter wrote.

“[Proof] that music is the universal language,” another wrote.

That commenter was actually hinting at something that scientists have been looking into for years. According to a study published in “Science,” rats and humans have similar neurological responses to music. Since rats and guinea pigs are both rodents, the study’s findings might also apply to guinea pigs.

In one video, Dindin gets up from her usual spot above the keys and hops onto the piano, striking a few keys. Maybe that means Dindin will soon move on from listening to music to also playing it. For now, though, she’ll continue enjoying her Beethoven and Debussy.
