Prince William seemed to have a blast meeting pop superstar Taylor Swift after her Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium. The future king even immersed himself in the exciting dances at the show that night before having a backstage meeting with the new generation “Pop queen”. Also present at this special event were Prince George and Princess Charlotte – Prince William’s two children. The two took selfies with Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
This light-hearted interaction was in stark contrast to the reaction Meghan Markle received when she invited Taylor Swift to join her Archetypes podcast with a “handwritten letter”. The Telegraph revealed that Meghan wrote a “handwritten letter” to Taylor last year in the hope of inviting her to the podcast, “but the singer declined through her agent.” Meghan’s Archetypes podcast ran for one season on Spotify, with 12 episodes hosted by Meghan, interviewing many famous guests such as Serena Williams, Paris Hilton and Jameela Jamil.
Since being discontinued by Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex’s show has been entangled in controversy when it was reported that both Meghan and Prince Harry were dropped by the platform. A senior Spotify executive is said to have criticized the Royal couple, calling them “scammers”. Despite the bad news, Meghan Markle has partnered with Lemonada Media and is preparing to launch a new podcast series next year, following the success of her first podcast series ‘Archetypes’.
Earlier this year, Meghan expressed her excitement about the project: “I’m proud to share that I will be joining the outstanding team at Lemonada to continue pursuing my passion for podcasting”. She added: “Supporting a woman-founded company with a slate of thought-provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a great way to start 2024. Plans to re-release Archetypes to more making it accessible to more people, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast that we’re working on. I can’t wait to share it soon and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.
