Bear and Boo were brothers who loved each other very much. They loved playing together and couldn’t imagine life without the other — until Boo passed away.

The pair’s mother, Talia Rycroft, wasn’t sure if Bear understood that Boo was gone. Her own heart was breaking at losing Boo, and she kept a close eye on Bear to make sure that he was coping OK.

They buried Boo in the backyard — and a few days later, Rycroft caught Bear doing the sweetest and most heartbreaking thing.

Bear had decided he was going to hang out on top of Boo’s grave and refused to leave. He rolled around, happily hanging out with his brother. He may not have completely understood what happened to Boo, but he knew he was there in the yard, and that seemed to be enough.

“Someone give me the WHOLE box of tissues, I’m so sad,” Rycroft wrote on TikTok.

The next day, Rycroft saw Bear out at Boo’s grave again — but this time, he appeared to be trying to dig it up.

Rycroft wasn’t sure what to do, but someone on TikTok made a beautiful point.

“He is playing with him,” TikTok user @akosisenyorita wrote. “One last play I guess, like the other cat is saying its final goodbyes.”

Thankfully, Bear doesn’t seem to be in any kind of distress. He’s just grieving the best way he knows how. He likes knowing that his brother is close by, always watching over him and there to hang out, just in a different way.
