Striker Kylian Mbappe suffered a serious injury in the French team’s opening match against Austria in Group D of EURO 2024.

This 25-year-old striker suffered a broken nose after a strong collision with defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder in an aerial dispute in the 86th minute.

The image shows that this collision with great force caused Mbappe’s nose to bleed a lot, and his shirt was also full of red.

The medical team quickly entered the field to care for Mbappe before the French captain was taken off by Coach Didier Deschamps in the final minute of official play, making way for Olivier Giroud.

Speaking after the match Deschamps said: “Kylian’s nose was hit hard. We will check but the situation seems very complicated. This is really unlucky for us.”

“He is receiving treatment from the medical department. The injury is very bad but we cannot give you an exact answer yet,” Mr. Deschamps added.

This makes many people doubt about striker Kylian Mbappe’s ability to play in the “big battle” between France and the Netherlands in the second match of Group D of EURO 2024.

However, in case he is able to play, this French striker will likely have to use a mask to protect his nose.

In the opening match, France was rated higher but had a very difficult time winning 1-0 against Austria thanks to Maximilian Wöber’s own goal.

With this result, France has got 3 points and will soon win the right to continue if they continue to win when facing the Netherlands on June 22.
