As of this moment, reports indicate that next month’s episode of the popular anime series ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ will feature Los Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura.
In a special cameo appearance, Hachimura is set to depict himself through promotional artwork crafted in the timeless anime style. The much-anticipated premiere of ‘The Adventures of Buri Buri Zaemon: Space Dunk Edition’ is scheduled for November 4, featuring an appearance by Hachimura.
According to reports, Hachimura’s character will employ the most significant slam dunk of his career in an attempt to divert a meteorite headed towards Earth in this particular episode.
It’s wonderful to see the Lakers forward receive recognition and the chance to appear in the television series, especially because he has been such a vital component of the French franchise’s success since joining them shortly before the trade deadline of the previous season. They claim that since Hichimura and his family are ardent fans of the show, his appearance on it is like a “dream come true.”
During the 2022–23 season, the Lakers used the former No. 9 overall pick in 33 games, nine of which were starts.
Hachimura finished the 2022–2023 season with an average of 11.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 31.96% from three-point range and 48.6% from the field.
Despite being a restricted free agent during the previous offseason, Hachimura was retained by the Lakers for the upcoming campaign. He inked a three-year, $51 million contract with the Lakers.
Hachimura demonstrated last season that he can provide Los Angeles with a significant scoring boost off the bench as they advance through the playoffs.
During his tenure with the Lakers, the Gonzaga University alum showcased his scoring prowess, achieving 20 or more points four times. His standout performance occurred in the series opener against the Memphis Grizzlies.
In that game, Hachimura demonstrated exceptional accuracy from beyond the arc, amassing 29 points while sinking five of six 3-point attempts.
Through two games this season, Hachimura maintains an average of 6.5 points and 1.5 rebounds. However, his playing time has yet to exceed 20 minutes per game for the Lakers.
As Hachimura’s success in Los Angeles continues to unfold, it opens up potential opportunities for him beyond the basketball court, including potential roles such as voicing a character in an anime.
Lakers enthusiasts might find a way to catch both the episode featuring Hachimura and the Lakers’ game against the Orlando Magic on November 4.
