Golden State Warriors Suffer 52-Point Loss to Boston Celtics; Stephen Curry Expresses Disappointment in Defeat

It seemed that the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics would create a spectacular match when recreating the 2022 NBA Finals series, but the reality was completely contrary to fans’ expectations.

A key match between the two teams with the most wins since early February turned into a merciless destruction of their opponents by the Boston Celtics.

The Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics are two teams with very high performance over the past 4 weeks. Unfortunately, when they met, the Warriors were not themselves and the Celtics were too excellent

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and his teammates at one point led the Golden State Warriors by 56 points in a huge 140-88 victory at home at TD Garden.

This result helps the Boston Celtics enter NBA history by becoming the first team to have 3 wins of 50 points or more in the same season. This is also the team’s third biggest win after the 133-77 blow-out against the Chicago Bulls in 2018 and 128-75 against the Sacramento Kings in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors recorded the fourth biggest loss in the club’s history, a low note after about 4 weeks of sublimation (12 wins in 15 matches) of the home team at Chase Center.

The rivalry between the Celtics and Warriors started exactly as fans expected. After 6 minutes of play, the two teams were tied 21-21 with an eye-catching duel.

But somehow, Golden State lost their sense of attack and their defense, which was not their strength, crumbled. From then on, the Celtics opened a 23-1 scoring streak to take the lead with a big assist from Jaylen Brown (scoring 19 points in the first half).

If Brown lit up the first half, then in the second half, Jayson Tatum spoke up for Boston. He alone scored 17 points in the half to raise the score to 82-38 with his teammates.

On the other side of the front line, the entire Golden State team could do nothing but try to throw away. And on the day Stephen Curry did not have the slightest feeling from beyond the 3-point arc (0-9 3PT), the Warriors were powerless to keep up with Boston’s sublime attack.

Feeling that the gap was too big and a little dissatisfied, coach Steve Kerr “raised the white flag” right from the middle of the match and did not let Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry return to the field. 100% of the reserve players of both sides came on the field in the middle of the third quarter and played until the end of the match.

Moses Moody was the only player in the Warriors starting lineup to score more than 10 points, while Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga and Klay Thompson none scored more than 6 points.

“I send compliments and show respect to Boston,” Stephen Curry shared after the match.

“They formed a clear style of play and deployed a coherent play to defeat us from the beginning of the match. On the day they were so sublime, we didn’t play well and the results showed that.”

Curry alone only had 4 points and 3 assists in 17 minutes of play. He successfully finished exactly twice from 2-point range, missed all 9 3-point shots and had a plus/minus index of -29.

If not counting the 5 successful 3-pointers of three almost anonymous reserve players, Gui Santos, Jerome Robinson and Lester Quinones, the Warriors team shot 2-23 3PT this match.

“We simply lost. The season is still long and we will try not to let it affect the next matches,” said Draymond Green.

After today, the Golden State Warriors will return home with 2 days off before hosting the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday
