Cristiano Ronaldo finished 2023 as the world’s top goalscorer, finding the net 53 times with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr and showing that, at 39 years of age, he is still in perfect physical shape.

However, the Portuguese superstar is acutely aware that the end of his career is fast approaching and it seems he has already discussed the matter of his retirement with his family.

Georgina Rodriguez stuns in Cristiano Ronaldo-signed t-shirt on paris fashion week runway

The proof of this is that Georgina Rodriguez, Ronaldo’s long-term partner, gave a hint of when he would be looking to hang up his boots.

During the Paris Fashion Week, the model took part in the fashion show of the prestigious brand ‘Vetements’, wearing a long red dress emblazoned with the name “Ronaldo” in front, the number seven and an autograph dedicated by CR7.

The dress also included the phrase: “For the love of my life, Gio. Cristiano Ronaldo.”

She also starred in a video where she revealed to Serbian singer Jelena Karleua while they were backstage of the catwalk when Ronaldo could choose to call time on his career.

“In one year it ends. Or maybe two, I don’t know,”Georgina said, speaking in English.

Reacting to the news, Ronaldo fans around the world were left devastated at the prospect of losing their idol: “To continue with the s****y Saturday… this will finish sinking me”, one user wrote, while another said: “I’m not ready”.

With Euro 2024 taking place in Germany in June, the Portugal international appears likely to fulfill his contract with the Saudi Pro League team and announce his retirement as a professional footballer afterwards, when he would be 40.

Cristiano emigrated to the Arabian Gulf in January 2023 after terminating his Manchester United contract, signing for Al-Nassr on a two-year contract.

However, he is very close to the 2026 World Cup, so he could either try to extend his career until the tournament, renewing for one more year with the Saudi team, or seek a one-year contract elsewhere.

In the meantime, he will participate in the Euros this summer with the Portugal national team as he aims to win his second European title. And it could be the last time football fans see one of the best players of all time on the international stage.
