Former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi chose Lionel Messi as the greatest football player because of Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a recent interaction with British sports streaming platform DAZN, Giuseppe Rossi was asked to choose between his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. Rossi responded:
“Both bring different things to the game, that’s why it’s difficult to compare them. Ronaldo went from a winger to the best number 9 on the planet, scoring goals is everything what he cares about.”
Regarding choosing Messi or Ronaldo, Rossi affirmed: “Messi is a goalscorer but he still creates great assists, and I appreciate that as a player who likes to sit deep and receive the ball. “
“Messi is a player who uses his brain more than Ronaldo when playing and therefore some people do not understand the importance of this. So, that is why I am more inclined towards Messi, about watching him. He competes, it’s all about hobby.”
Messi is currently enjoying a fantastic season at Inter Miami, having won eight Ballon d’Or awards. The 36-year-old also contributed 704 goals and 338 assists in 853 matches for the club during his time in Europe.
On the other hand, Ronaldo won 5 Golden Balls in his career. The 39-year-old scored 701 goals and contributed 223 assists in 949 club matches during his time in Europe.
With extraordinary efforts, Ronaldo is still playing very impressively at Al Nassr. Since moving to the Saudi Pro League, he has scored 50 goals and provided 14 assists in 56 matches at club level so far.
