On February 5, Cristiano Ronaldo turned 39 years old. A lifetime dedicated to soccer… and to goals. On October 7, 2002, at the age of 17, he scored a brace for Sporting CP against Moreirense in Portugal. They were his first two official goals.
Twenty-one years after those two goals, CR7 is still doing the same thing: scoring.
“I still love soccer. Even at my age I love playing, scoring goals and winning games. I’m going to keep playing until my legs say ‘Cristiano, it’s over’. For the time being I will continue to compete and help the team,” the Portuguese star confessed at the start of this season with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
He is tireless. Cristiano was the world’s top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals ahead of Kylian Mbappe (52), Harry Kane (52) and Erling Haaland (50).
And in 2024, he already knows what it’s like to score. With his goal in the 1-0 win over Al Fayha, Cristianomade it 23 years in a row! A record of longevity for a CR7 who started in 2002 and has not stopped.
Between 2011 and 2014, when he played for Real Madrid, he passed the 60-goal mark, leaving his record at 69 in 2013.
He has crossed the 40-goal mark in a calendar year 12 times!
The top scorer in the history of club soccer (741 goals), who scored goals for Real Madrid (451), Manchester United (145), Juventus (101), Al Nassr (45) and Sporting CP (5), and the all-time top scorer of national teams (128), is insatiable.
“I’m going to play this year and next year. After that, if my body tells me to continue, I will continue,” he said a few months ago.
Cristiano will be on the pitch until 2025. He will turn 40 with his boots on. And in 2026 there will be a World Cup…
